Being single isn’t always a bad thing. You can stay out late, come home early, not have to answer to anyone. It’s almost like you’re in high school again. Or for some people, college. Sometimes two’s a crowd, I mean who doesn’t enjoy some alone time. Always having "two" or "double" is sometimes monotonous and over indulging, when all you really needed was a great "one" or "single." I realized this not when I was in college, wishing I wasn’t single, but after I got hitched, and started buying furniture together. We bought everything "double." There was the "double bed" the "double shower" the "double meal." I realized that we didn’t need everything to be double.

My solution was to start buying single things, like "single slice of pizza," "single shot of espresso," and "single vanities." No more doubles. In fact, my single vanity was my savior. It is where I put all of MY stuff, not my husband’s, not the kids, but mine. I seek solace in that vanity, who would’ve thought, a beautiful piece of furniture could bring so much peace to a person. I didn’t. Some people call me crazy, but hey I don’t find the solace in a bottle of booze or anywhere else. I just take a few minutes organizing my bathroom vanity, and it’s like a stress reliever for me. Not only that, but my friends all insist I tell them where I got it, because they want one.
